Teen Arrested In Officer Involved Shooting
LANCASTER, SC – Authorities have located and arrested Rodrick Darnell Caskey, 19, the suspect in an officer-involved shooting.
The incident occurred at the Shrimp Boat Restaurant on 1668 Memorial Park Rd., Thursday night around 7pm.
Officers were at the restaurant on their meal break when Caskey entered the restaurant armed and demanded money. The officers confronted Caskey and an exchange of gunfire took place.
Investigator Brandon Rollins, an 11 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office was wounded in the exchange of gunfire. Rollins was flown to the hospital where he is currently in stable condition. Caskey fled the scene on foot into a local neighborhood.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and Law Enforcement Officers from many of the surrounding agencies rushed to the scene to assist in the search for the suspect.
Caskey was located during the search, walking on W. Meeting St. a few miles from the shooting. Caskey had also been shot during the exchange of gunfire. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to receive treatment. His injuries were not serious.
Because the incident was an officer involved shooting, the investigation has been turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division.
