Teen Crashes Cop Car Into House

JACKSONVILLE,NC--Police say a teen stole a cop car and drove into a Jacksonville N.C. house this morning.

Authorities say Thomas Gibson, 17, was in the back seat of a patrol car when he climbed into the drivers seat while the officer was waiting for traffic to pass.

Gibson reportedly put the car in drive, hit the arresting officer and drove the vehicle for a short distance before crashing into the front of a home, he then tried to escape on foot before being apprehended by police.

The arresting officer and occupant of the home both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Gibson is being charged with first degree attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, resisting arrest, felony hit and run, felony larceny, possession of stolen vehicle and his bond was set at $345,000.
