Teenager Faces Charges In Fatal East Charlotte Wreck
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Police say an 18-year-old mother had been drinking before she lost control of her vehicle and caused a fatal crash.
Investigators say Sydney McDaniel's vehicle slammed into a tree on Pence Road near Hickory Grove Road Wednesday night.
One of her passengers, 15-year-old Martha Rosales, was killed. McDaniel's 11-month-old son was seriously injured.
Police have charged McDaniel with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving, driving after consuming under 21, fictitious tag, child neglect and possession of marijuana.
Another teen was in the vehicle but was treated and released from a local hospital.
All three teens in the accident were students of Rocky River High School. When students return from Spring Break on Monday, extra counselors will be on site.
