Winter weather professionals meeting in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — As North Carolina basks in the warmth of a long-awaited spring, a group of professionals from across North America are in Charlotte to talk about snow.

The American Public Works Association has spent the part of the week in Charlotte for the North American Snow Conference.

The snow conference offers winter maintenance education and an expanded lineup of fleet and emergency management sessions.

After discussions during the first three days on emergency management and talks with a former NASCAR crew chief, the three-day conference is wrapping up Wednesday with tours of Charlotte's street maintenance facility, the Freightliner plant in Mount Holly and Michael Waltrip's race shop.
