RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Gov. Pat McCrory says he wants education leaders responsible for running North Carolina's public school, community college, and university systems to speak with a unified voice.

McCrory met Wednesday with members of the North Carolina Education Cabinet, a group created two decades ago to encourage cooperation across the state's education system.

The governor wants the heads of the State Board of Education, the University of North Carolina system, and the North Carolina Community College system to spend six weeks coming up with a common brand, objectives and goals.

McCrory wants the entire education establishment to share resources statewide, come up with a way to make unified budget requests, and help develop a curriculum that ensures worker skills and employer needs match.
