Students heading back to campus know exactly what they need to make their college experience easier. "Money." "A car. A new car." College wish lists also included something you can't buy. "More time mainly since I have a lot of extra curricular activities," says UNC Charlotte Sophomore Alex Moster. “I wish I had more time because I am taking 18 credit hours," says Freshman Rulla Kachlan. "Honestly I just need some more time." Laura Taylor, a Senior at Johnson C. Smith University has a tough year ahead. "I have senior proposals, senior paper, I have like three different jobs, I have volunteer jobs. I just need time to sit and breathe." She isn't alone. With more of their plates full, the number of college students finding themselves late to class either occasionally or frequently has jumped from just over 49% in 1966 to over 60%. The problem: getting up. The big brains at thinkgeek.com have a solution; meet “Clocky.” The first alarm sounds like R2D2 and it's loud! Hit snooze and the alarm clock takes off. Laura would try “Clocky,” but has one concern. "I've seen Transformers way too many times. I don't want want the thing coming after me in my sleep. I don't want it crawling around and growing it's own arms and legs." Another possible time saver is the hidden flash drive watch. No more searching for your flash drive...it's built in. Just some of several high-tech gadgets that can make college life easier. |
