Petitions Against N.C. Standardized Testing
CHARLOTTE,NC--A new petition will look to limit standardized testing in North Carolina schools.
Grassroots organization Mecklenburg Acts is working to gather support for postponing new statewide tests.
The organization is also trying to eliminate letter based grading of schools, which started this year.
Organizers say standardized testing encourages "teaching to test" and limits the curriculum.
An initial petition got more than 2,000 signatures in Mecklenburg county, the goal is to reach up to 20,000 statewide.
