LONDON, ENGLAND - Actress Angelina Jolie is speaking out for the first time about her decision to have a double mastectomy. Jolie and her fiance Brad Pitt walked the red carpet this past weekend for the London premiere of his film "World War Z."
Last month Jolie chose to have both of her breasts removed as a preventative action after she found that she had an inherited genetic mutation that puts her at high risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Testing for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations are big business. While the cost of technology has gone down, the costs of this test has gone up, costs that can be a burden to many woman. After recently losing her aunt to cancer, Jolie and her family are planning to work with a charity to fund such tests for women who need the test but can't afford it.
