CHARLOTTE, N.C. - 11/11/11 is going to be a busy day.  For techies, the Droid Razr ships at 11 AM.  For movie goers, the thriller 11/11/11 will be released.  For fans of fabric, it's Corduroy Appreciation Day, the date which most resembles the lines of corduroy fabric.

The last time the special date appeared on the calendar was November 11, 1911.  There was a historic cold snap that hit the US and caused blizzards and tornadoes.  FOX Charlotte's Morgan Fogarty asked people at the Epicenter in Uptown, "Does 11/11/11 have any significance to you?"  One man replied, "Not to me really, it's just another day."

North Charlotte's April Robinson says, "I don't know, it sounds fabulous, I guess at 11 AM, I'll do something to remember it, I don't know, scrapbook it!"

"A lot of people probably get married, maybe they'll try to have their baby," says Louisiana resident Jessica Reed.

In fact, Reuters is reporting that expecting mothers in South Korea have inundated hospitals with requests for c-sections on 11/11/11.  Why?  They want the life-long ID number of "111111" for their children's Korean resident registration number, sort of like our social security numbers.

Weddings are also up. Local gown shops report they are busy with last minute dress preparation for brides getting married on 11/11/11.  East Charlotte resident Samario Moore just got engaged.  Fogarty asked him, "Do you think it would be neat to have a wedding on 12/12/12?  You could remember the anniversary date very easily."  Moore's eyes lit up and he said, "Oh yeah, yeah, yeah!  So like, 5 or 10 years from now, she'll be like 'when was our wedding?' And I'll be like, 12/12/12!"

But for others, the palindromic date holds no mystery, no allure, no threat.  A young boy simply put it, "It's not my thing!"
