CHARLOTTE, NC- In concierge care, communication is key.

"As many different ways as my patient can think of to communicate with me, that's how I'll be available. I have patients who text, I have patients who e-mail, some who've Skyped," said Marshall Silverman, a concierge physician at Signature Healthcare.

Concierge doctors promise 24/7 access - something that's important with the changes on the way to health care.

"We've seen consistent growth and even more growth because so much uncertainty in health care access. Right now, it's hard enough to get in to see your doctor in a timely fashion,” said Jordan Lipton, a concierge physician at Signature Healthcare.

Lipton says he sees an average of seven patients a day, which is much different than a typical office.

"There's been a huge shortage of primary care physicians and the average primary care doctor in Charlotte now has between three and five thousand patients," said Lipton.

Doctors say there is no wait for patients, partly because they cap their patients at 350.

"It doesn't have that disposable feel to it. That drive through, quick, in and out feel," said Silverman.

Over the past year, there's been a 30 percent spike in doctors who have switched over to concierge care.

In some larger cities it can cost up to 15-thousand dollars a year. Here in Charlotte, the serves start at $2,000.
