Local Rapper Says Violent Song Is 'Real Charlotte Music'CHARLOTTE, NC- "Shoot, shoot, shoot ya house up," rapped Chezzy Boy in a recent song titled, “Shoot Ya House Up”. Chezzy boy's brand is “Real Charlotte Music,” but some community leaders say his videos send the wrong message about the city. "Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. All day, 704," said Chezzy Boy. He grew up in Northwest Charlotte and never left the city. Now, he has somewhere around 100 videos posted on YouTube and all of those videos were shot in Charlotte. "It's about time for Charlotte, North Carolina to shine," said Chezzy Boy. He calls one of his latest songs, “Shoot Ya House Up”, a club banger. "What I rap about is real Charlotte music. That's what goes on in my city." When asked about the violent lyrics and guns in the video, he says, "I gotta go hard any means necessary. So whatever is going to get me there - to the top - and get me recognition, I'm gonna do it." He was named new artist of the year for 2012 by the Queen City Awards - which got over 100,000 thousand votes. John martin, the CEO and founder of the Young Black Men Leadership Alliance says the violent videos send the wrong message. "These are the types of things that get highlighted for our children. Our children start to believe THAT is the reality they live in and that's why you have so much violence," said Martin. "It doesn't necessarily mean gangster, violence or nothing like that. Just be yourself and represent where you come from. It's about Charlotte," said Chezzy Boy.
