Son of Rowan Co. Sheriff Candidate Arrested For Posting Nude Pics on Instagram
CHARLOTTE, NC -- The 18-year-old son of a candidate for Rowan County Sheriff faces a laundry list of charges.
Peter Kiever made his first appearance in a Rowan County Courtroom. He faces a long list of charges after police say he posted dozens of naked pictures of teen girls online.
Police say underage girls sent racy and explicit photos of specific body parts to Kiever, and he shared them on Instagram. He's also accused of soliciting naked photos.
According to arrest warrants, Kiever's charged with 14 felony counts of exploitation of a minor. He's being held at the Rowan Co. Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
WCCB learned that Peter is the son of Brian Kiever, who is running for Rowan County Sheriff. We went to his Salisbury home, but the candidate said he has no comment regarding his son's arrest.
Seventeen-year-old Chance Bunn says he never saw the alleged photos, but he's heard all about them at school. "It's just idiotic," says Bunn, "...Why would you do any of that? Why go through the trouble of blasting people you don't know? It's just petty."
The arrest warrants detail the explicit nature of the photos Kiever is accused of posting. We showed them to Chance's mom, Claire. She was shocked. She says this type of case should be a wake-up call for parents.
"They definitely need to have a talk with their kids, and I don't think they should do it when they're 15. I think they should do it when they're 8 or 9," says Bunn.
Kiever received a court-appointed attorney. His next court appearance is scheduled for April. 16th.
