Salisbury, N.C.-- Officials were called to the scene of a traffic accident at the intersection of Jake Alexander Boulevard and East Innes Street around 6:40 a.m. Monday.

William H. Robins, 46, of Denton, NC, was found deceased under his Ford van after being ejected from the vehicle. Robins' two sons, age 20 and 21, were transported to Rowan Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, Stephen Burrow, 56, of Salisbury, NC, was also treated with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Robins ran a flashing red light on Jake Alexander Boulevard when he hit Burrow's vehicle, which had the right of way. Speed was not a factor.

The signal at the intersection was flashing because at 1:01a.m. the night before there was a power surge which set the signal on flashing mode.
