56 Hotels to House Democratic Delegations in NCCHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Democratic National Convention Committee has announced the hotel assignments for the 6,000 delegates who will attend the 2012 convention. Officials said Tuesday that the delegates will be spread out in 56 Charlotte area hotels. The process began in September with a lottery to determine each state's priority preference. The committee's chief executive officer, Steve Kerrigan, says the Westin and the Hilton Charlotte Center City will be the headquarters for the committee. The three-day convention will officially begin Sept. 4, ending with President Barack Obama's acceptance speech at 74,000-seat Bank of America stadium. A day before the start of the convention, the Democrats will hold an event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway to celebrate the Carolinas, Virginia and the South. |
