145th Airlift Wing Deploys Out of Charlotte for Afghanistan

by WCCB Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Another round of airmen will leave Charlotte tomorrow to help with Operation Enduring Freedom.  WCCB Charlotte was there as a C-130 carrying 40 members of the 145th Airlift Wing took off Wednesday in southwest Charlotte.  They will move troops and supplies to US forces in Afghanistan.  It's been hard for family members to say goodbye.

"It really hurts being a mother to see your child leave and know he's going over there in those countries where it's not safe.  But I thank God he's able to go.  And that's a passion, that's his passion," said Jefferine Minyem.

Representative Robert Pittenger and the commander of the 145th, Colonel Marshall Collins, were there to send off the airmen.  Sixty more leave on Thursday.
