SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg may get an ice skating rink for the holidays.
Spartanburg City Council got a proposal about the skating venue Monday.
A sponsor wants to open a rink between Nov. 15 and the New Year's holiday at Morgan Square downtown.
The estimated cost of $10 per person would include skate rentals.
City communications manager Will Rothschild says an ice rink would help revitalize the downtown area. Rothschild says ice rinks have helped in Greenville, as well as Charlotte and Raleigh in North Carolina.
The unnamed sponsor would provide the rink. The city would provide the staff for the operation.
