CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Panthers have announced they've made a move at defensive tackle, signing free agent Dwan Edwards and waiving last year's third-round draft pick Terrell McClain.
Terms of Edwards' deal were not immediately available.
Edwards played the last two seasons with the Buffalo Bills after spending six years with the Baltimore Ravens. The 6-foot-3, 301-pound Edwards has played in 85 games with 45 starts during his NFL career.
Sunday's announcement to waive McClain comes as a surprise.
He started 12 games last season as rookie after being selected 65th overall by the Panthers (No. 20 in the AP Pro32). He's the latest third-round draft pick to fail with the Panthers, joining former defensive tackles Corvey Irvin and Atiyyah Ellison and running back Eric Shelton as busts.
