CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A trainer assigned to Vance High School in Charlotte has been accused of having sex with a student.

The Charlotte Observer reported that 29-year-old Melinda Ilg is charged with sexual activity with a student by school personnel. It was not clear if she has an attorney.

Ilg was a Carolinas Healthcare Systems employee who was contracted to work as athletic trainer at the school.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools contracts with Carolinas Healthcare to provide certified athletic trainers at several high schools.

A school spokeswoman would not say which team was involved.

Ilg is no longer the trainer at Vance.

A spokesman for Carolinas Healthcare Systems says Ilg is on paid administrative leave, pending an outcome of the case.
