CHARLOTTE- With just four months until the November election, the campaign season is underway. Both campaigns are narrowing their focus on North Carolina and fighting for the state vote.

In 2008, President Obama won North Carolina by just 14,000 votes, making this November election a competitive one. Both campaigns are increasing their teams and preparing for a tight race.

Michael Halle is the General Election Director for Obama for America. Halle says the Obama team is adding staff and offices, “We had hundreds of volunteers out on the streets; we registered thousands on the fourth of July alone.”

Romney North Carolina Communications Director, Robert Reid says they have been seeing huge enthusiasm from Romney volunteers, “We’ve seen people come out willing to go knock on doors, willing to make phone calls and dedicate their Saturday’s.”

In addition to volunteers, the Romney campaign is increasing their presence throughout the state. Today, the campaign added four new “North Carolina Victory Offices” throughout the state in addition to the four that are already up and running. The new four locations are in Fayetteville, Wilmington, Winston-Salem and Greenville.

Halle says, the Obama campaign is looking to the Democratic National Convention for an extra push, “We are going to have thousands of people here engaging in the campaign; it’s going to be a gigantic grass roots boost.”

One thing is certain, as November approaches both campaigns are digging in for a long battle.
