3 Huntersville Schools Placed on Lockdown

HUNTERSVILLE, NC. -- Three schools in Huntersville were placed on lockdown this morning due to police activity in the area.

CMPD and Huntersvile police were on the scene just after 9:00 a.m. looking for a male with dreadlocks, wearing all black clothing.

For safety measures, police placed lockdowns on North Mecklenburg High School, J.M. Alexander Middle School, and Blythe Elementary when they saw the suspect running in the direction of the schools.

Police were able to apprehend the suspect, who was armed with a black revolver and $2,500 in cash. The lockdown was lifted around 9:50 a.m.
