7-Year-Old NC Girl Killed By Truck at Bus StopTARBORO, NC -- A 7-year-old Edgecombe County girl is dead after authorities say she was struck by a pickup truck while waiting for the school bus. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Janell Simmons was waiting with three of her siblings on Thursday when she ran into the path of the truck just before 7 a.m. Troopers say the truck driver slowed down for the bus and children. Janell was rushed to Nash General Hospital but was pronounced deceased a short time later. The truck driver will not face charges in the accident. Simmons was about to attend her fourth day at G. W. Bulluck Elementary School. |
