Charlotte Girl, Ellie Potvin Loses Battle With Cancer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A Charlotte girl, who gained national attention for her battle with a rare type of cancer, has died. Ellie Potvin was just 8 years old.
Ellie's mother, Amy, confirmed the little girl passed away just before noon Wednesday, posting from her twitter account, "Ellie gained her wings at 11:35 am. RIP sweet baby Ellie."
Ellie suffered from a rare form of stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer in the trunk of her body and her lungs. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2008.
Her wake will be held Calvary Church, in Charlotte, on this Friday at 6:00 pm and her funeral will be at the same location on Saturday at 11:00 am.
Amy Potvin requests all attendees wear "pink to funeral or pastels" because they were Ellies's favorite colors.
