Angelo Smith, Jr. to Face Judge Monday
CHARLOTTE, NC -- The man accused of killing Bianca Tanner and then reporting her missing will face a judge Monday. Angelo Grayson Smith, Junior is behind bars Friday night, re-arrested for first degree murder in the killing of his girlfriend.
Tanner's presumed remains are at the medical examiner's office. Police found the body Thursday morning in southwest Charlotte. A source with knowledge of the investigation tells WCCB Smith confessed to detectives that he killed Tanner before reporting her missing June 8. The source says Smith claims he choked Tanner to death.
A woman who wants to remain anonymous says she once dated Smith. She released a statement that says in part, "I was afraid Angelo would again get away with abuse and even worse, murder this time... I escaped with my life. I can't be thankful enough, but I will never forget the night I feared for my life."
