Apathy Hurts ACC Ticket SalesCHARLOTTE, NC- Low demand dropped ticket sales as apathy took over this year's title game in Charlotte. Tickets sold for under two dollars and there's a long list of excuses for a low turnout. "The ACC is down. Nobody is nationally ranked. Florida State and Georgia Tech lost last week to their rivals," said Scott Parker, a Norfolk, VA resident. The ACCtitle game drew over 72,000 fans to Charlotte in 2010. Last year, close to 74,000 packed Uptown. Ticket totals flirted at 60,000 hours before Saturday's game. "When a team like Georgia Tech shows up, you don't have 50 thousands students every year to generate that big fan base," said Russ Ferguson, a Jacksonville, NC resident. " We would have loved to sell it out but sometimes that has to do with the team and how well they travel," said Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx. Something Foxx says is out of the city's hands. But he doesn't expect the local economic impact to take big hit from the lower turnout. "We still have our restaurants very busy and our hotels very busy. It's still a very positive event and we'll continue working to make it better every yea," said Foxx. Charlotte won a bid and will host the game in 2013.
