BOONE, NC -- Investigators think an Appalachian State University student slipped at the edge of a creek, hit his head on rocks and fell into the water and drowned.

An autopsy on the death of 19-year-old Tyler Blalock of Charlotte classifies the death as an accidental drowning.

School officials said the autopsy results are consistent with a campus police investigation.

Blalock's body was found in a creek that flows through a park in Boone on Saturday morning. The park is across from the university's Holmes Convocation Center, which accommodates conventions, trade shows, concerts and athletic events.

Blalock was a sophomore studying sustainable development.
