CHARLOTTE, NC- More than 250,000 couples call off their weddings each year.

A Charlotte woman is turning their misfortune into big business.

"The amount of cancellations is so big and people lose so much money," said Lauren Byrne, founder of Bridal Brokerage.

Byrne started BridalBrokerage.com - The site helps brides who cancel their big day sell their wedding.

"The package is as much as the previous bride has planned. So, that may include DJ, photographer, florist, caterer, venue," said Byrne.

The sellers recoup some of their money and the buyers save time and cash.

Wedding planner Ivy Robinson says you still need to do your research.

"Are the vendors that this other bride has booked quality? Does their expectation meet your expectation? Are the invitations you get going to be printed off a printer or will they be letter pressed," Robinson.

"They might just fall in love with what somebody else picked out," said Betty Ziegler, owner of Bride's House of Originals.

Ziegler owns the oldest bridal shop in Charlotte. She's seen plenty of bridezillas, but says this could be perfect for an overwhelmed bride-to-be.

"A package is certainly an easier way. Some people know exactly what they want, some people don't," said Ziegler.

"I actually think that a lot of people getting married for the second time would be interested in this," said Robinson.

More than 1,500 people have registered with the site since it launched over the summer.
Bridal Brokerage pays up to half for a wedding that's been paid in full then resells the package.
