Bruton Smith Says He Would Consider Buying The Carolina PanthersCHARLOTTE, N.C.--The owner of Charlotte Motor Speedway, Bruton Smith, said he would consider buying the Carolina Panthers football organization. Smith made the comment Tuesday during an interview on WBT radio. Smith added that he would not make taxpayers pay for stadium improvements. This comes on the heels of a meeting between Charlotte City Council members and Panthers owner Jerry Richardson. Richardson is asking for approximately $144 million in taxpayer money to renovate the stadium. City Council is backing a plan to give the Panthers the money from a food and beverage tax increase. |
