This week's pit crew challenge kicks off race week events.  With the Coca Cola 600 just two weeks away businesses are pulling out all the stops.

Anthony Palmer is a Jerky employee at the Beef Jerky Outlet in Concord. He says they have specialty jerky just for Race Week, "There's nothing more Nascar than beef jerky. We even have our own moonshine jerky's."

He says they have been doing a lot of planning, "We got a bunch of signs up outside with 'Welcome Race Fans' on it to lead people here. We have race decor put up. We have traffic cones to make sure you can guide yourself in here to the store."

He usually orders 12 cases of jerky per week but that won't cut it for the race crowd, " We ordered a lot of extras. I ordered 34 cases earlier this week."

You can almost feel all the excitement when you turn onto Bruton Smith Blvd.  Some businesses have even had to hire extra staff to accommodate all the NASCAR fans heading in town.

Amy Cable works at Quaker, Steak & Lube, "We have actually hired a few new people. Just for the race season and of course all of our usuals are here working double shifts."

She remembers what it was like to work during past races, "It's just non stop. Non stop action. There's always people in here. Tables are always full. There's people everywhere."  She says they plan on staying open till 2am.
