Charlotte, N.C.--Kathryn Block became the new Chief Communications Director for Charlotte
Mecklenburg Schools. Her appointment is part of the district's re-structuring recommended
in a new audit.

"My team and I will be steadfastly focused on how do we improve the quality of engagement with employees, with our parents, with our students with our community partners," Block said.

In addition to re-structuring the district's leadership, the audit found poor communication and poor morale within CMS and among parents who didn't feel included in big decisions.

"It certainly doesn't feel great for us. We certainly aspire that every single employee have a high level of engagement and that's something we're going to work toward," Block said.

The findings are part of Superintendent Heath Morrison's 100 day entry plan presented last May.

"We're getting tired of doing survey after survey after survey and if they think that asking the question three or  four times is gonna get them a different answer I think they're going to be sorely mistaken," Classroom Teacher's Association President Judy Kidd worries all these changes could mean
even more micro-managing, "If they would back off and leave us alone and let us do our job,
I think the students would have a better experience and the test scores would soar,"
she said.

The audit findings also say the district needs to streamline its Human Resources Department.
