Police Arrest 7th Grade Student for Stabbing

CHARLOTTE, NC -- An 8th grade student is expected to be okay after police say he was stabbed by another student with a pair of scissors. According to a spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the incident happened around dismissal time in the bus lot at Ashley Park Elementary.

We are told the 8th grade student and a 7th grade student were involved in an altercation. There is no official word as to what the altercation was about.

Medic transported the 8th grade student to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the 7th grade student is in custody and charges are pending.

Parents were notified about the incident by the school's principal. CMS says this is an isolated incident.
