CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Derwin Gray played for six seasons in the N.F.L. As a player who logged his last season for the Carolina Panthers in 1998, he says he hated to win. "At the end of every game I was spent. I was done. Not only physically but emotionally," Gray said.

But, winning is exactly what Gray says needs to happen for his former team. "Teams that win do have the stability factor," said Al Bolognese. Bolognese is a Sports Management Professor at Winthrop University. He says stability is one factor that makes a difference. "When you've got stability for five, six, seven years, the culture starts to form...But when you're turning it over all the time, you don't have that continuity and stability," Bolognese said.

Winning and stability are two issues that will no doubt be part of the conversation at tomorrow's meeting between Coach Ron Rivera and Owner Jerry Richardson. But, in a business where wins drive ticket and merchandise sales. Weighing patience and economics can be a delicate
balance. "There has to be leadership that develops in that locker room  that says we are going to win. Not I hope we win. But, we're going to win," said Gray.
