Carolina Trail Owner Speaks Out About State InvestigationCHARLOTTE, N.C.--We spoke with a woman who works at one of the seven golf course owned by The Carolina Golf Trail. "What do you do? You suffer silently or go out on a limb which is what I'm trying to do," she said. She didn't want us to use her name but said she supports the N.C. Department of Labor's new investigation into the company that she claims has delayed pay days and released bad checks to her and other employees over the last three years."There's laws there to protect the employees and where have they been? Jeff Silverstein is the Managing Member of Carolina Trail Partners. He said he's been meeting with N.C. Labor Officials and showed them payroll records. "Every employee will get every penny they are entitled to. Just because you have an investigation doesn't mean you've done anything wrong," Silverstein also said violations like a fungus found by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation at one of his golf courses called The Tradition are false. Silverstein said he is working to resolve financial problems and he's successfully reorganized the debt on his courses."We are in better shape than we were when the financial crisis hit," Silverstein said. The employees who claim they don't get paid on time and depend on their pay checks hope brighter days are ahead too. "I think he should pay fines and charges and whatever else he needs to do for doing this to employees," Silverstein said. Silverstein said he intends to continue working with the N.C.
