Flooding Damages Catawba County Roads

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- Catawba County has received over four inches of rain already, causing damage to several roadways.

Catawba County Board of Commissioners Chair Katherine Barnes declared a State of Emergency just after 11 a.m. Saturday.

The following roads are closed for at least three months due to heavy damage:

- 600 block of McLin Creek Rd in Conover

- Huffman Farm Rd in the Mountain View area of Hickory

- Mull Rd in Vale in southwest Catawba County

- Old Farm Rd in the Mountain View area of Hickory

- Grace Church Rd in the Propst area of southwest Catawba County

- Gracie Lane in the Propst area of southwest Catawba County

Shelter has opened at Newton Recreation Center at 23 South Brady Avenue. Pets are permitted at the shelter.
