CHARLOTTE, NC -  For sale signs in front of homes are almost like landmarks these days.  But Charlotte real estate agent Greg Faulcon says, that's changing.  "Inventory is very low, so buyers are now competing for houses."  Which Faulcon says is driving prices.  "Prices are going up but they're still not where they were in 05 and 06 where we had the peak of the highest prices in charlotte."

Faulcon says there were just over 54 hundred homes on the market in Charlotte between June of last year and now.  That's down 33 percent from the year before.  For sellers, those numbers translate into a better chance of selling and parlaying whatever equity sellers can realize, into buying another home. He says, "People still can capture some of the lost equity that they have, that they lost in the past and put that towards a new purchase because the prices are still good for a new purchase."
