Charlotte Man Arrested for Cutting Off Electronic Monitoring DeviceCHARLOTTE, NC -- A Charlotte man has been arrested after he cut off his electronic monitoring device. Channing Banks was released from jail and placed on electronic monitoring in August. On September 18, Banks cut off the device and was last seen heading toward Cates Street. On Tuesday, police say they arrested Banks on Central Avenue. He is the 25 offender monitored by CMPD to cut a monitor off in 2012 as compared to 19 during the same time period in 2011. CMPD is currently monitoring more than 370 offenders as compared to 315 offenders in 2011. The rate of cut monitors remains under 2% of all offenders monitored by the CMPD. All of the prior 24 offenders who cut off monitors have been apprehended. |
