Charlotte Non-Profit Says New Age Thinking Is Reducing CrimeCHARLOTTE, N.C.--Nathaniel Moore struggled with substance abuse, and depression. He was homeless and lived in his truck. "I just had nothing to to really live for, I thought," he said. But that all changed when he came across Dave Nichols and his Center For Sustainable Change. "I realized that my situation was really me thinking into that situation,"Moore said. Over the last four years, The Center has held seminars in Lakewood. Through a series of workshops, they taught the residents to focus on their state of mind and think with healthy thoughts. "Each person naturally wants to do the best they can and when they realize they are in control of that, that's a game changer for the family, for the kid, for the school, for everybody," said Charlotte Mecklenburg Police say the Center's efforts have helped to reduce violent crime by 62-percent in the West Charlotte neighborhood that has historically suffered from high crime. Because of his new outlook, Moore is now pursuing a welding program at CPCC-- For more information about how you can learn the methods and attend an upcoming retreat in September go to: http://cscmediacenter.org/live-events.html |
