Charter School Employee Accused of Raping Student

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A former employee at a local charter school is facing several sex charges. Investigators say James Taylor is accused of raping a 12-year-old student at Sugar Creek Charter School on N. Tryon.

In a release issued to parents by the school on Tuesday, school officials say they received a report that Taylor had inappropriate contact with a middle school student. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.  On Wednesday, school administration decided to fire Taylor.

Taylor was arrested and is charged with two felony counts of indecent liberties with a child, two counts of indecent liberties with a student and two counts of rape of a child.
