CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department determined a 4-year-old girl shot herself Monday with a gun she found.
Marsharier Littlejohn, 36, the child's mother, and Leandre Budden, 30, her boyfriend, both have warrants for failure to store a firearm to protect minors.
Littlejohn was arrested early Tuesday. Budden's warrant is still outstanding.
According to police, the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday at an apartment off North Davidson Street. Officers responded to Presbyterian Hospital after the caller stated that they have a child in the emergency room that suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police say the child is expected to be okay.
