Charlotte--Chin implants are growing in popularity faster than breast augmentations, Botox and liposuction combined.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says more than 20-thousand chin augmentations were carried out in the U.S. last year.
A 71-percent increase.
And they say it's all because of teens.
Bristol Palin and Ashlee Simpson are just some of the celebrities rumored to have gone under
the knife in order to have a chin like Jennifer Aniston.
"It's a wonderful procedure and it gives great benefits," said Dr. Victor Ferrari from the Premier Plastic Surgery
Center in Matthews.
"I think psychologically we see the chin as a sign of strength, authority. It's perceived that this
person knows more than the person with the weak chin," said Ferrari.
But, not everyone supports splurging on the surgery that will set you back more than 4-thousand-dollars.
"I think its kind of absurd."
said Statesville resident Margaret Morgan.
"I think its kind of ridiculous." said Uptown resident Daphne Spencer.
"It's not about the outside all the time its about loving yourself the way you are," said Northwest Charlotte resident
Max Millington.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says nearly 220-thousand 13-19 year olds get cosmetic plastic surgery each year.
