CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Amendment One could impact plans to offer benefits to same-sex domestic partners of Charlotte city employees.

The benefits are part of the nearly two billion dollar budget recommended.

Mayor Anthony Foxx sent us this statement, "The city attorney is reviewing the city manager's recommendation and that review will no doubt inform city council's discussion of the recommendation."

The budget also calls for an 8% property tax hike.  That means the owner of a $200,000 home would pay about $72 more per year.  Council will vote on the budget next month.
