CONCORD, N.C. -- Law enforcement officials have been on the lookout for a baby black bear that was last seen in the Concord area late Saturday morning.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office says the bear was seen on Highway 49 near Central Cabarrus High School. The bear then walked along the railroad tracks in the woods toward Rocky River Road. At one point, the bear was traveling through the Logan community.

Since the bear is not damaging property or causing harm to anyone, deputies do not find it necessary to try to catch them bear.

Concord Police sent WCCB photographs taken of the bear. They say it looks to be mid-size - possibly a few hundred pounds.

Police closed the greenways of McGee Park for a half an hour. People in the Les Myers Park were warned of the incident.

The bear was likely pushed down to the Concord area due to the storms in Morrow Mountain, according to deputies.
