CATAWBA, S.C.--Officials are investigating after an accident at a York County paper plant killed one worker and injured another. 

The incident happened early Tuesday morning at Resolute Forest Products while two contractors were working on a decommissioned tank. 

Authorities say a chemical may have leaked into the tank while the workers were performing maintenance repairs.  York County Coroner Sabrina Gast says 39-year-old Smair Storey was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A company spokesperson says the workers were not employed by the plant but were contractors with a company based out of Charlotte.
