Crews Work To Extinguish Lumber Company Fire
MT. PLEASANT, N.C. -- 46 firefighters are working to put out a large fire at Miller Lumber Company in Mt. Pleasant. According to officials, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Investigators say no injuries or evacuations have been reported at this time.
Miller Lumber Company is located on Jackson Street. That road is closed as crews continue to extinguish the flames.
The fire is believed to have been ignited by lightning earlier this evening.
Highway 49 is closed between North Drive and Main Street. Main Street is restricted at this time. The closures are necessary for fire crews to have access to water supplies, and to run their equipment across the roadway.
Traffic plans are expected to run into Thursday morning.
