DNC Parking Expected to Cause Headaches

Charlotte - The Democratic National Convention parking gridlock is about to begin. Chief Rodney Monroe says, "People need to be aware and follow the signs on where to park, if you follow the signs, everything is going to be ok."

Jean Leier with Charlotte Area Transit says public transportation may be the way to go. Leier says, "Whether its most convenient for you to take the Lynx blue line, or if its easier for you to take the bus."

Leier says people should park and ride in the Lynx lots. Leier says, "No matter which direction you come from, North or South, if the furthest North or South is full, drive to the next one to keep searching for a space."

The Sharon Road West Lynx lot tends to fill up fast, so private textile company Oerlikon across the street plans to charge $10 per day to park in their lot. Preferred Parking owns a number of lots Uptown. But fourteen of it's locations will be closed that week. Angie Cameron has been told to work from home that week. Cameron, "I did wonder what I was going to do as far as parking was concerned, and the chaos of coming uptown."
