CHINA GROVE, NC -- A doctor and six school district employees in Rowan County face drug charges Tuesday night.  It's the outcome of a four month investigation into what the SBI calls a prescription drug scheme.

The suspected ring leaders are Dr. Orrin Walker of China Grove and his wife Abby.  She taught at Bostian Elementary School.  Investigators say she got coworkers and friends to pick up fake prescriptions for hydrocodone written by her husband.  Abby Walker has since resigned.  Dr. Orrin Walker has surrendered his medical license.  Six school district employees face multiple charges.

The school district sent WCCB Charlotte a statement saying, "The Rowan-Salisbury Schools will not tolerate any illegal drug-related activity by our employees, and will act to maintain the safety of our students and staff."  Teachers assistant Tammy Eudy is suspended without pay.  The district is in the process of investigating and taking personnel action against the other suspects.
