Dog Survives Shot to Head

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have called off an investigation into who shot a two-year-old pit bull/Staffordshire terrier mix in the head.  "Bruno" was reportedly dumped out of a truck and abandoned on Saturday.  Hours later, he was shot by a guy who said the dog was attacking him.  The man reportedly said he waited until Bruno got close to him before firing. 

Rescuers say it appears the dog was shot at point-blank range.  They also say Bruno hasn't shown any aggression whatsoever.  He is undergoing treatment in South Carolina.  CMPD tells us they cannot locate the man who fired the gun.

The shooting cause Bruno to suffer broken teeth, sinus damage, esophagus damage and part of his tongue was destroyed.  If you'd like to make a donation to his medical care, please go to
