CHESTERFIELD, S.C.--Rescue volunteers at the Chesterfield County animal shelter say animal control officers shot more than twenty dogs.  The Chesterfield Sheriff told us his deputies did not have anything to do with the dogs euthanization but they are investigating.

Volunteers are circulating some pretty gruesome pictures of dogs they dug up that were shot in the head and dumped in a landfill.  Volunteers from the Forever Animal rescue told us they were going to adopt dogs from the shelter today when they noticed there were a lot of dogs missing.
