Dry Skin Season Has StartedCHARLOTTE, N.C.- Fall in the Carolina's is beautiful, but with it comes dry skin season. If you already have itchy, scratchy hands and chapped lips here are some things you can do to keep your skin healthy. Allan Wilson is in town visiting from Prince George British Columbia Canada. He came in town with friends to watch the Panthers game. Wilson says he can already tell his lips are drying, “I'm really regretting it. I don't have my chap stick with me but I had to buy some because yeah it's really drying out. The sun is awesome but it really does dry the skin out.” Lashon Burts said all the Vaseline she was putting on her lips was not working plus she was fighting dry skin so she had to call a specialist, “I had to go to the dermatologist and get something extra and I got some shower gel which smoothed my skin even more. It was like irritated.” Dr. Schulman of South Charlotte Dermatology says when the leaves start drying out so do we, “Especially this time of the year we see a lot of folks getting dried out and getting eczema. Sensitive dry skin and especially from the lack of humidity and changing of the seasons a lot of folks flare up.” The low humidity we see during the winter means you can expect dry air until March or April. Some tips to avoid getting dry skin are first, do not take hot showers, take cooler, shorter showers and use less body wash. Double up on chap stick and moisturizer throughout the day. If you're still experiencing dry skin consider getting a humidifier for your home.
