East Burke High Teacher Accused of Sex Crime, Suspended With PayMORGANTON, NC -- A East Burke High School teacher is suspended with pay after being accused of inappropriately touching a juvenile male student. According to Burke County School officials, Tracy Hefner, was employed with East Burke High for 19 years. The school district said they found out about the incident on Monday. Hefner was suspended without pay until the investigation is complete. School officials believe the alleged incident occurred off school grounds. Hefner is being housed at the Burke Catawba Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. He is charged with one felonious count of second degree sexual assault. |
