Mint Hill, N.C.--The Mint Hill community came together to raise money for a three year old police say was beaten by her stepfather.

Friends and Family raised more than $20 thousand for Kilah Davenport's medical treatment on Sunday.

She spent three months in the hospital. Doctors removed part of her skull to relieve pressure. Kilah's had to relearn how to walk, talk, and eat.

Kilah's Family is trying to get a law passed that would require convicted child abusers to register the same way sex offenders do.

Joshua Houser remains in jail under a million dollar bond charged with felony child abuse. He is set to go on trial in September.
